I really love flying saucers because they are minimalistic and versatile. I am sure that their principle is to create waves of different ranges like a speaker or an antenna, and therefore they have such a shape. The aliens probably have different ships, but the flying saucer is what we know is theoretically possible. The correct technical name for this vibroplane.
